Would you like to slow down your life, so you can enjoy every minute?

Do what motivates you.

Modern life is hectic. Every day is rush, rush, rush. We rush out of bed, to work, to the gym, to school, to the grocery store, and back home again – where we rush around some more with our endless list of chores. But it’s entirely possible to SLOW DOWN and de-stress without falling short of your commitments.

Today, I’d like to share 8 secrets that will help you slow down your life so you can enjoy every minute.

Multitask

Studies say that multitasking can actually reduce productivity by as much as 40 percent. It appears that when we try to jump between different activities at the same time, we end up using our brains less effectively than people who successfully complete one task before moving onto the next. Finish the first thing you started, and focus on doing it well. Then move onto the next item on your list.

Give Yourself More Time

How often do you try to push yourself to finish something too quickly? You’ll find that work flows much more naturally when you’re not rushing to meet your own deadlines. You’ll also make fewer errors, which will mean less time spent editing and revising.

Be On Time

Prep for each day by getting things ready the night before: pack your lunch, lay out your clothes, make sure your keys are in the right place. A study which investigated the lives of billionaires found that they shared one important habit: setting out their clothes the night before.

Get Outdoors

Just a short walk in the fresh air can help to boost your overall cognitive function. Physical activity increases your heart rate, which improves the flow of oxygen-rich blood to your brain. Fresh air also helps with digestion, energy levels and mood, and can even strengthen your immune system. So, the next time you feel overwhelmed and stressed-out at your desk, get your shoes on and head outside for a good dose of air!

Go The Long Way

You’re probably accustomed to taking the fastest possible route from A to B. Well, why not try the longer route next time? The long way round is likely to be less congested with traffic, which will mean less stress. It may even be more scenic!

Indulge In Silence

When you’re stressed, your mind can feel like it’s on a rollercoaster. One minute you’re worrying about your next deadline, the next you’re grieving for something that happened five years ago. By quieting your mind and allowing those racing thoughts to pass by, you’ll help to restore your inner peace.

Just Breathe

Taking a few moments to breathe properly – from your belly, not your chest – is a proven technique for reducing stress. When you draw in oxygen through your diaphragm, you’ll find that your heart rate slows down – along with your anxiety and stress.

Create A Work Life Balance

Write down all your tasks for the upcoming week, plan regular vacations, designate specific work hours each day – for example, only work between 9am and 5pm, and automate as much of your workload as you can, or hire someone else for certain tasks.
